How to use Rotate / flip
Rotate and flip in one pass
The rotation is applied first and the flip second, so you can straighten a photo and mirror it in a single run. “Flip horizontally” is the one for selfies that came out mirrored, and for scans that ended up the wrong way round.
Why a photo looks right in one app and sideways in another
Cameras normally store the orientation as a tag instead of turning the pixels, and not every program reads that tag. Running the photo through this tool writes the orientation into the pixels themselves, so it looks the same everywhere, old software and websites included.
A batch shares one setting
Every image in the batch gets the same rotation and flip. If a folder holds photos that lean in different directions, sort them into groups and run the tool once per group; the results carry on to the next tool without picking the files again.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
A photo looks upright on my computer but sideways elsewhere?
That is the EXIF orientation tag, which only some software respects. Run the photo through this tool once and the orientation is written into the pixels, so it is upright everywhere.
