How to use HEIC to JPG
Which output format should you pick?
JPG is the safe answer: every phone, printer, website and older program opens it. Choose PNG only when you need a lossless copy or a transparent background, because the files get several times larger. WebP is the one to pick when the photo is headed for a website: the same picture, roughly a third smaller.
Converting a whole album at once
Select as many HEIC files as you like. Each one is converted on its own, so a single unreadable file never stops the batch. The ones that failed are listed at the end, and the rest still download. One photo comes back directly, several come back as a single zip.
Quality, file size and orientation
Quality 90 is hard to tell from the original; drop it to 80 for email or chat and the files get noticeably smaller. The rotation recorded by the iPhone is baked into the pixels, so photos taken sideways come out upright in every program, not just the ones that read the tag.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
Why does the first conversion take a few seconds?
The HEIC decoder is about 2 MB and is only downloaded the first time you use it. After that your browser keeps it cached.
The converted photo is rotated the wrong way?
The tool reads the orientation stored in the HEIC file and straightens the photo automatically. If it still looks wrong, fix it with Rotate / flip.
Does the result still contain my location?
No. The image is re-encoded, which drops its EXIF data, GPS location and camera details included.
