How to use Resize image
Which mode fits your case
“Longest side” handles a mixed batch of portrait and landscape shots in one go, and is what upload limits usually mean. “Width” is the one for blog and shop images. “Percentage” scales everything by the same factor. “Exact width × height” is the only mode that can distort the picture, because it ignores the original proportions.
Enlarging
Making an image bigger is switched off by default. The tool can only interpolate between the pixels that exist, so an enlarged image gets soft. It never gains detail. Tick the box only when a system demands a minimum size and a slightly soft image is acceptable.
What happens to format and quality
Files keep their original format (HEIC becomes JPG), and JPG and WebP are re-encoded at quality 88. Resizing is a good moment to compress as well: send the results on to Compress image afterwards, or use that tool’s “longest side” option and do both in one pass.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
Does enlarging make an image blurry?
Yes. The tool can only interpolate; it can’t invent detail. Shrinking, on the other hand, keeps the image sharp.
