How to use Favicon generator

What comes out of it

One zip with favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px in a single file), PNGs at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 px, apple-touch-icon.png for iOS home screens, icon-192 and icon-512 for installable web apps, site.webmanifest carrying the app name you typed, and head-snippet.html with the tags to paste.

Start from the right source image

A square PNG of at least 512 px, or an SVG, gives the cleanest result. Remember that the icon is read at 16 px in a browser tab: a full logo with wording turns to mush at that size, so crop to the symbol or use a single letter. The corner radius and background options are applied to every size at once.

Putting it on your site

Copy the files from the zip into your site’s root folder and paste the contents of head-snippet.html into your <head>. Browsers hold on to favicons for a long time, so check the result in a private window or with a hard refresh.

Questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Which sizes do I need?

A modern site only needs favicon.ico, one 32 px PNG, a 180 px Apple Touch Icon and the 192 / 512 px manifest icons. The tool generates all of them together.
