How to use View EXIF data

What a photo can tell you

Capture time, camera and lens, aperture, shutter speed and ISO, the software that last edited it and, if location was switched on, the exact coordinates. Photographers read it to check their settings; everyone else usually reads it to see what they are about to share.

The location link

When a photo carries coordinates, a map link appears next to them. The photo itself never leaves your device, but opening that link does send the coordinates to the map site, as any map link would. If you would rather not, the numbers are right there in the table.

Why some photos show nothing

Screenshots never had EXIF in the first place, and images that arrived through a social platform or a chat app have usually had it stripped on the way. An empty table is good news when you are checking a photo before sharing it.

Questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Why do some photos show no data?

Screenshots and images forwarded through social platforms have usually had their EXIF removed already.
